The Golden State Warriors acquired Chris Paul from the Washington Wizards in exchange for a trade package around Jordan Poole.

Many are looking forward to seeing how Chris Paul will fit in with Stephen Curry. After all, the two superstars have been longtime rivals. In a recent interview with ESPN, CP3 shed some light on his relationship with Curry.

“Me and Steph have known each other a long time,” Paul said. “My wife was at his wedding, I think him and his wife was at our wedding. But we’ve known each other for a very long time, so I’m excited to get a chance to play alongside him, Klay, Wig, Draymond, all them, man, they got an unbelievable organization, and that team is just, they’ve been playing together for a while, and they know what they’re doing.”

The two veteran point guards have played three playoff series against each other. In 2014, Paul’s Los Angeles Clippers defeated Curry’s Golden State Warriors in seven games during the first round.

Next, the two stars faced in the 2018 Western Conference Finals. The Warriors recorded a 4-3 win in the series. Finally, they played in the 2019 Western Conference Semifinals, where the Dubs took a 4-2 series win over the Rockets.

Keeping that in mind, it will be interesting to see how they will fit together as teammates.

Draymond Green Hated Chris Paul In 2020

Chris Paul averaged 13.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 8.9 APG in the 2022-23 NBA season. So, he is expected to be a great fit alongside Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

But in order to truly get along with the Dubs, he needs to build a good relationship with Draymond Green. Green admitted that he hated Paul in 2020.

“I don’t like CP at all, we don’t have a good relationship at all. but I respect his hustle and I respect his IQ… I took it upon myself to create division there [between Chris Paul and Steph Curry.]”

As of now, Draymond is working on a new deal with the Warriors. The four-time NBA champion opted out of his $27.6 player option for the 2023-24 season. If and when he returns to the team, it will be exciting to see whether he can build a good bond with Paul.
