Draymond Green’s future is up in the air right now after the four-time NBA champion declined his player option for the 2023-24 campaign. The big man has been crucial for his team’s success and now could be on his way out after a tumultuous season with the Dubs.
A host of teams have been mentioned as potential landing spots for Green, including the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. Still, the Warriors are reportedly preparing a new deal for Green. According to NBA Insider Marc Stein, Draymond would extend his stay in Golden State for three more years.
“I continue to hear nothing but strong confidence emanating from the Bay Area that an agreement on a multi-year deal for Green to stay right where he’s always been is forthcoming.
“(A three-year deal, league sources say, is a popular current projection for the 33-year-old.)”
Green has earned $155.5 million during his NBA career, per Spotract, and it’s unclear how much he’ll make with this new deal. He’s seemingly agreed with Stephen A. Smith about his $100 million value for the Warriors and the rest of the NBA.
The Dubs brought in Chris Paul earlier this week, in a move that can give them options to bring Green back (especially with Jordan Poole out of the team). Then again, if the Warriors aren’t willing to pay what he wants, other teams will have the chance to make an offer for Green.
Draymond Green Was On The Memphis Grizzlies Radar
Besides the Heat and the Mavs, the Houston Rockets have been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Green. The Texans have a long list of targets for the 2023 NBA free agency, including the outspoken big man. The Memphis Grizzlies showed interest in him before landing Marcus Smart, too.
As you can see, Green won’t miss suitors this offseason. There’s always somebody claiming the Los Angeles Lakers can make a run for his services, but that seems unlikely right now. Green appears to be set to stay in the Bay and run it back with the Warriors.
