The Phoenix Suns were once again eliminated in the second round. Denver Nuggets delivered a brutal Game 6 loss to the Suns.
Following the defeat, there is a genuine discussion about whether the Suns should keep Chris Paul this summer or not. ESPN’s Tim MacMahon recently revealed in ‘The Hoop Collective’ podcast that the Suns are expected to trade CP3 in the upcoming offseason.
“I think that I certainly would anticipate that they aggressively shop Chris Paul before that June 28 deadline that would guarantee his salary from $15.8 to $30.8 million,” MacMahon said. “I think it’s pretty likely that Chris Paul is elsewhere next year.”

If Chris Paul gets traded to another team this summer, it wouldn’t surprise anyone in the NBA community. Paul has simply been unable to fulfill his duties as a star for the team.
Part of this is related to his inability to stay healthy when it matters the most, i.e., the NBA playoffs. Even in the Western Conference Semifinals, CP3 played just the first two games of the series and was sidelined for the rest of the series due to an injury.
During those two games, Paul averaged just 9.5 PPG, 2.5 RPG, and 5.5 APG. More importantly, the Suns were playing better without Paul on the floor, as they registered their only two wins of the series when he was sidelined.
The New Orleans Pelicans Trading For Chris Paul Would Make Perfect Sense
Chris Paul is no longer the he once was, but there is still a market for the veteran point guard. After all, CP3 averaged 13.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 8.9 APG this season.
Our writer, Ishaan Bhattacharya, recently explained why a trade between the Phoenix Suns and the New Orleans Pelicans would make perfect sense.
The trade would involve CP3 getting back to the team that drafted him back in 2005 in exchange for Larry Nance Jr. and Jaxson Hayes.
At this point, it’s just a mock trade. But if Paul’s future with the Suns is in jeopardy, it could become a reality sooner than later.
