The Golden State Warriors traded Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards in a surprising move to acquire veteran point guard Chris Paul. CP3 was earlier sent to the Wizards in Bradley Beal’s trade to the Phoenix Suns.

Paul has expressed his desire to have a great season while donning the Warriors’ jersey. However, it would be an understatement to say that he wasn’t taken by surprise when the Dubs decided to trade for him. Theo Pinson was alongside Chris Paul at a pickup game when the trade was announced. Pinson shared CP3’s reaction to it in a recent appearance on the ‘Run Your Race’ podcast.

“We hooping or whatever,” Pinson said. “I’m just sitting on the sideline, and I was on my phone just scrolling. I see Chris get traded on Instagram, and I’m looking at Chris, and he’s hooping, and I’m like this dude going to the Warriors, and he has no idea. Then I saw little Chris after the game. Little Chris came and told his dad he going to the Warriors.”

Pinson added: “Chris’ a** start pulling from half court and hitting shots and s**t. I said, ‘Oh you a splash bro now, huh!'”

Prior to getting traded to the Warriors, Paul found out about his trade to the Wizards when he was on a plane. It’s been a crazy couple of weeks for the 38-year-old.

Last season, Paul averaged 13.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 8.9 APG. Can he provide similar numbers to the Dubs? After all, he is expected to lead the second unit for the Warriors.

Stephen Curry Is Elated To Have Chris Paul As His Teammate

Chris Paul and Stephen Curry have locked horns several times in their careers. So, it will certainly be weird for fans to see them on the same team.

Following the trade, Curry talked about Paul’s addition to the team. The four-time NBA champion is excited to play alongside Paul.

“Every team that CP has been on gets better,” Curry said. “That’s the most consistent thing about him, who he is, and what he brings to the team. Everybody’s going to talk about age. It’s on us to put that all together and figure out how all the pieces work.”

The Warriors couldn’t get past the Western Conference Semifinals in the 2023 playoffs. They were eliminated by the Los Angeles Lakers in six games. The Dubs will hope Paul’s addition can help the team in winning another championship.
