Clippers Think Paul George Has A Serious Injury, Says Shams Charania

Paul George picked up an injury in the latest Clippers game, and Shams Charania reports that the team thinks it's a serious one.

Paul George has been the most important player for the Los Angeles Clippers this season. The All-Star has been carrying the team through Kawhi Leonard missing games as they make a push to be in the playoffs.

However, in their loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night, Paul George had to leave the court due to a knee injury. It looked serious when it happened, and the update from Shams Charania isn’t very good, either.

“They’re gonna probably gonna have more tests today, but he left the arena on crutches, in a cart,” Shams Charania said. “There is real concern within the Clippers that this is a serious injury. He had a 360-dunk in the half-court just a few plays before that. And he’s been playing at such a high level this year, their only All-Star. Of course, this hurts.”

There isn’t an exact report on what Paul George’s injury is or how long he will be out, but the update seems ominous. The Los Angeles Clippers have less than 10 regular season games left and are the 5th seed, but the Western Conference playoff race is incredibly tight. If they are missing Paul George for an extended period, this could dash their hopes of even making the playoffs.

Even if the team can make it to the playoffs, not having Paul George would be devastating for them. Kawhi Leonard’s availability has been a big question mark this season, and even if he plays at the highest level, missing their second-best player would cost the Clippers.

How Good Paul George Has Been This Season

Paul George has played 56 games for the Clippers this season, averaging nearly 24 points per game to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. His defense has been excellent as is to be expected, and he was the team’s only All-Star this season.

The importance of Paul George to the team also cannot be overstated, they have a 32-24 record with him on the team. Without his presence, the Clippers are 6-11, and with 9 crucial games coming up, they will miss him greatly. The Clippers are only 2 games ahead of the 10th-seeded Utah Jazz, and they will need to figure something out quickly if they don’t want to drop out of the playoff picture.
