Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers still have a lot of work to do to build a competitive team ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season. The team has a series of interesting young pieces, but that’s not enough to compete for a championship.

Lillard is still patient with his team and today, he’ll reportedly try to help them get one of the best free agents in the league right now. According to Dwight Jaynes, Lillard and Draymond Green are meeting today at a Portland restaurant.

“I just got a text… [Draymond Green] is in Portland tonight meeting with [Damian Lillard] at a restaurant. A friend had reservations and was told Dame rented out the restaurant and they had to cancel his reservation.”

If true this can be the first time Lillard has been a serious threat to other teams trying to lure hot free agents. The talented point guard wants to compete and win with the Trail Blazers, and he knows he must be involved in the action to have better chances to land players that can take this team to the next level.

Green is one of the best players in the league, even though he doesn’t have the best averages. The big man is the glue that puts everything together for the Warriors, and many teams want that for their roster.

The four-time NBA champion has been mentioned in a series of rumors recently and linked with many teams around the league, including the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings.

Draymond Green Is Reportedly Open To Meet With Franchises Before Making His Decision

Draymond Green will be a man in demand once free agency opens, and even though he’s expected to get a three-year deal from the Warriors in the open market, recent reports suggest that he will test the waters of free agency.

This is an interesting situation for every party involved in it, and some teams will try to get advantage of that. If Lillard manages to land Green, that would be a huge pick for the Blazers. They can do a lot with the big man on the roster and also try to bring in another player to round up a championship-contending team.
