D’Angelo Russell is a happy man. The guard returned to his old team, the Los Angeles Lakers, ahead of the trade deadline and has been an offensive force for the side.
And he’s letting the world know it. Taking to Instagram, Russell posted an image of him alongside LeBron James’ chalk toss. “When they ask how I’m living. I say living the dream,” he captioned the post.
Russell was one of the players the Lakers acquired as part of their three-team Russell Westbrook trade. The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Utah Jazz. And ever since his arrival, LA has seen a massive upgrade on the offensive end.
The guard has averaged 17.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists with the Lakers this season. Overall, Russell has been propping up 17.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.
D’Angelo Russell Keeps It Real About His Future As A Los Angeles Laker
He may be happy as a Laker, but Russell prefers to take it one day at a time when asked about his future with the Lakers. Earlier this season, he had a rather sorted reply to that query.
Russell said he was “at peace” when quizzed about the free agency and his tenure with LA. “I’m just at peace, to be honest. I’ve been at peace for a long time,” he told Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times.
“I’m a free agent this summer,” Russell added. “I’ve been traded midseason, so to get comfortable somewhere it’s not easy for me,” he said. “So, until I am, I won’t be comfortable. I won’t feel like it’s home.”
The Lakers have surely benefited with Russell in their ranks. He has been a potent weapon for them and will be raring to go against his former side, the Minnesota Timberwolves, in the play-in clash on Tuesday.
Only time will tell if his tenure with LA will be a long one. Don’t be surprised if it is.
