LeBron James has been resting on the sidelines for the last couple of weeks and trying to recover from a right foot tendon injury.
Lakers head coach Darvin Ham has provided an update on James and when he’ll return to the court after their loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

This is a bit of a vague update, as most people anyway anticipated that James would return during the regular season to maximize the Lakers’ playoff hopes. The season still has almost 3 weeks of basketball left to be played, so it’ll be fascinating to see when LeBron James comes back and what position the Lakers are in when he does.
LeBron James Wanting To Make The Most Of This Season
After the trade to send Russell Westbrook away and acquire D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Jarred Vanderbilt, the Lakers seem to have gotten a better rhythm on the court. Sadly, they’ve fallen to back-to-back cold losses against Houston and Dallas. They face the Orlando Magic tonight in basically a must-win game to keep their charge for the 6th seed alive.
LeBron has allegedly been to Germany to treat his knee and enable him to return quicker. Any version of James on the court with this competitive group would be a boost. They were 3-0 with James before the injury sidelined him. The Lakers will most likely be in the play-in, with LeBron definitely being back by then.
If the Lakers are in the play-in, having LeBron on the court makes their chances of making out much more manageable. They’ll aim for at least the 8th seed so they can have the shorter route to the playoffs, provided they can win their game.
