Devin Booker’s elimination game last season was a damp squib. And it didn’t change this year either after the Phoenix Suns guard came up short when his team needed him the most.

Booker had 12 points, 1 rebound, and 8 assists in the Suns’ 125-100 blowout loss to the Denver Nuggets, who sealed the series 4-2 and ousted Phoenix from the race.

This marks the second time that he failed in a crunch game. Last season, The Suns were facing the Dallas Mavericks in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals, and Booker ended with 11 points on 3-of-14 shooting as the Suns were beaten 123-90.

Booker came into the contest against the Nuggets, averaging 33.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.2 assists. His last four games against Denver saw him notch up one 40+ and two 30+ point performances. But he did come up empty when the team needed their offensive unit to fire collectively.

The Suns were seen as NBA championship favorites after trading for Kevin Durant ahead of the trade deadline, and now they will have a lengthy offseason to figure out ways to get better.

Can Devin Booker And Kevin Durant Reproduce Their Scintillating Production Next Season And Make It Count?

Devin Booker and Kevin Durant were widely regarded as the best offensive duo this season after their brilliant performances once the latter joined Phoenix. And that’s what makes their Game 7 performances vs. the Nuggets a disappointment.

KD averaged 29.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 5.5 assists, and the Suns would have felt like trading their depth and future assets for the veteran was a gamble that paid off. But it was a repeat of last year for the Suns, and while it’s too soon to say it failed, one would have expected the Suns to come strong against the Nuggets.

Only time will tell if Durant can bag another championship to his name, while the Suns will look to get their hands on the elusive silverware.
