Devin Booker’s Trash Talk Backfired On Him In All Three Situations

The likes of Luka Doncic, Klay Thompson, and Jae Crowder have got the better of Devin Booker this season.

It’s one thing to talk trash and big, and then it’s another to back up the big talk. Devin Booker could perhaps keep that in mind the next time he squares off, rubs his opposition up, and then his moves backfire flush on his face — and it’s happened thrice this season already.

To start with, the first instance was when he decided to take on Luka Doncic. The Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns squared off in the playoffs last season and the Sun’s guard was relentless with his chirping, including making fun of Doncic’s actions when fouled.

Then came the Slovenian with a fitting reply putting up 35 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists, compared to Booker who only mustered 11 points, 3 boards, and 2 assists. The Mavericks were staring at elimination prior to Game 6.

They propelled to a win setting up a decisive game 7 and that’s when Doncic had the last laugh.

The rivalry between the two superstars continues to date, with the most recent one coming earlier this month with Booker getting into Doncic’s face again. Safe to say, the trash talk between the duo isn’t going to stop anytime soon.

Up next was a skirmish between Klay Thompson and Booker with the latter trying to get into the sharpshooter’s head.

Note that these two have had a history since last year, and by the looks of it, Thompson’s not one to forget easily as he took Booker’s digs in his stride and put up a solid show.

This resulted in a scintillating 38-point performance from the Warriors star to torch Booker and the Suns 123-112. Trust Booker to take on a man who’s seen his share of trash talk and then dishing it out.

Adding further insult to injury to Booker was when his former teammate, Jae Crowder, drained a three on his face when the Milwaukee Bucks squared off against the Suns. Much before the former Sun gave Booker a dose of his own medicine, the fiery guard had some taunts heading Crowder’s way. You can watch the clip below:

In reply, the big man responded with a resounding three to help the Bucks win 116-104

That’s three isolated events alone this season where Booker was shown what payback truly meant. As the Suns now gear up for a playoff push, there’s no denying that he will not stop his trash talk as the level of competition only gets higher. Only time will tell if he does indeed have a few more battles on the court along the way.

Perhaps It’s Time Devin Booker Backs Up His Big Talk With Winning Performances For The Phoenix Suns

Credit to Booker for being the leader of the team this season, averaging 27.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. But then, the impressive run has also taken a dent with all his trash talk backfiring on him.

Maybe Booker can take a page from Michael Jordan’s book, or even Kobe Bryant’s, for that matter. Not only were these two legends take the slights that came their way, but they also gave them back in copious doses. They had the game to back their talk, and maybe Booker could be a tad bit wiser to understand that the bully doesn’t necessarily win all the time.

The Suns are aiming for their maiden title this season, and much depends on Booker to help his side go the distance. It’s maybe time he realizes that he can’t fire up players who have the edge to beat him at his own game, rather he could focus on winning for Phoenix.
