The Golden State Warriors pulled off an emphatic 112-123 win over the Phoenix Suns to strengthen their chances of securing a guaranteed playoff position.

Klay Thompson went nuclear with a 33-point first half that set the Warriors up for the win with Klay ending the game with 38 points. Fans reacted to this rivalry matchup with a lot of excitement.

StatMuse said, “The Warriors are 32-3 when Klay Thompson drops 35 points in a game.”

NBA.com’s Beau Estes said, “Klay Thompson will never get enough credit for how great he is.”

Another fan said, “Klay Thompson deserves a lot of apologies.”

One fan highlighted Klay’s impact on this Warriors’ team, “I love seeing Klay Thompson playing at this level. I don’t think it’s a coincidence: The Warriors went to the NBA Finals 5 times in a row. Klay gets hurt for 2 seasons. They miss the playoffs both times Klay comes back. They win the NBA Championship.”

Legion Hoops hailed Stephen Curry, “Stephen Curry refuses to let this Warriors team die. Generational player.”

A Warriors fan made an observation on Jordan Poole, “This is the role Poole needs to stay in. Cook while either Steph or Klay are sitting to keep the offense going. We should NEVER be playing all 3 together.”

Outside of Thompson, Stephen Curry contributed 23 points while Jordan Poole scored 20 off the bench. The Suns were led by Devin Booker scoring 32 and Deandre Ayton adding 27. Chris Paul and Curry had an animated moment of trash-talk during the game as well.

The Suns are 1.5 games ahead of the Warriors as the 4th seed in the West right now. With Kevin Durant expected to be sidelined for most of their remaining games, Golden State will be looking to push for the 4th seed and ensure they can have home-court advantage in the first round.

Are The Warriors Re-Emerging As Contenders?

After a rough run of games in recent weeks, many started dismissing the chances of the Warriors retaining their throne as NBA Champions. It is definitely looking unlikely but the Warriors cannot be counted out until they have lost their fourth game in seven-game series.

Klay Thompson’s recent form will be encouraging for Golden State, as he’s making a tangible impact as a two-way wing on the squad. If he can maintain this form into the playoffs with Stephen Curry playing at the level we know he is capable of, the Warriors will be hard to stop.
