Dillon Brooks has become the poster child for mockery following the way this Lakers vs. Grizzlies series has gone. His words about LeBron James didn’t go over well, and his inability to back them up in Game 3 made him look even worse.

Dillon Brooks put up a 3-13 performance before hitting LeBron James in the groin and getting ejected. He was one of the main culprits for allowing the Lakers to blow open a 26-point lead in the first quarter. And during the game, he got destroyed by commentary from Doris Burke.

“There are times I think he crosses the line,” Burke said, as per Larry Brown Sports. “I respect highly what this guy does nightly… he does not bring elite athleticism to the game. He obviously does not bring elite shooting. He’s on the floor to do one thing: guard the toughest guy every single night. It’s a thankless job. It’s a hard job. And he embraces it.”

While she does make some good points about Brooks as well, appreciating how tough his job is on a nightly basis. But it doesn’t take away from the fact that she took shots at his lack of athleticism and his inefficient shooting.

Dillon Brooks is averaging 11 points over the first three games, and the efficiency numbers are shocking. He is shooting 32% from the field, which is shocking, 25% from three-point range, and 60% from the line. This is on 13.3 attempts too, which makes his poor shooting a big concern for Memphis. Things aren’t looking good for Brooks right now.

Dillon Brooks’ Antics Aren’t Getting To LeBron James

Even if his shot isn’t falling, at least Brooks remains a tenacious defender and is committed to getting under the skin of LeBron James. But his antics haven’t fazed James at all, as seen from his scoring numbers. And even mentally, James’ responses to the provocation show he isn’t bothered

“I don’t get caught up in any comments like that. And like I continue to say, at the end of the day my focus is to my teammates and us trying to figure out a way how we can beat the Memphis Grizzlies, not on how I can beat an individual on their team.”

The noise around Dillon Brooks has reached a fever pitch, and he needs to step up big to quiet down his critics. Whether he is up to it or not will be seen in Game 4 of the series, one that the Grizzlies need to win.
