Draymond Green believes Jonathan Kuminga will greatly benefit from playing alongside Chris Paul in the 2023-24 season.

Speaking to Paul George on Podcast P, the Warriors’ veteran forward said the point guard will be the guiding force that the young core needs and used the growth of Deandre Ayton as an example.

“I think Chris Paul will completely unlock Jonathan Kuminga in his growth. Deandre Ayton looked like a bust before CP3 came to Phoenix. No disrespect to Ayton, but more of a nod to CP. What he would do for Jonathan Kuminga and unlocking him is huge.”

It’s safe to say that CP3 will be spearheading the second unit and with him sharing the floor will be Kuminga. With his well-built frame, game awareness, and IQ, Kuminga, who was expected to be on the trade block, was one of the players retained by Golden State.

The former first-round pick averaged 9,9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists from 67 games last season. This time, with CP3 in the hut, if Green’s prediction indeed comes true, those numbers will see a solid bump.

Draymond Green Adds To The Rich Experience For The Warriors

Golden State’s experience department received a boost with Draymond Green re-signing with the franchise for what will be one final run with the team.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Green agreed on a four-year, $100 million deal with the Warriors, which notably includes a player option for the last season.

“Free agent Draymond Green and CEO of Klutch Sports Rich Paul have agreed on a four-year, $100 million contract to return to the Golden State Warriors, sources tell The Athletic and Stadium. The $100M deal contains a player option in Year 4.”

What this does is provide Golden State with a solid core, with the 32-year-old bringing in the defense that he did all these years. His efforts on that end were instrumental in the side winning their title in 2022, and now, his rich experience will be key for the team to make one final dash for the title.
