Draymond Green Was Seemingly Right About Dillon Brooks: “I’m Not Sure Your Teammates Like You”

Draymond Green predicted that Dillon Brooks will not be a member of the Memphis Grizzlies for long.

Over the last few months, Dillon Brooks has done everything in his power to become a villain in the NBA. But trying to create that persona has backfired on him.

Following the Memphis Grizzlies getting knocked out of the 2023 NBA playoffs, it was announced that Brooks would not be back with the team under any circumstances. It seems like Draymond Green predicted this earlier when he claimed that Brooks’ teammates didn’t like him.

“If you ever wondered why the Memphis Grizzlies is not ready to compete for a championship, look no further than this idiot right here,” Green said. “They actually are depending on this guy to help them win a championship, and he says, ‘His game is cool.’ Quite frankly, that just shows how little you know about basketball. That’s where it gets really interesting. Your level of understanding of the game of basketball is at a fan level. And you’re running around talking about a dynasty?

“The dynasty starts after you, not with you. That’s just a fact. … I’m trying to figure out why they like you in Memphis. Or do they like you in Memphis? That’s a better question,” Green said. “I’m not sure your teammates like you. But I can tell you why they like me over [in Golden State]. When you contribute in the way I have contributed to four championships, they tend to like you.”

Draymond Green didn’t hold back when calling out the Grizzlies forward. To be honest, the way things have gone down over the last few weeks, it seems fair to assume that Brook’s teammate, indeed, does not like him.

While Brooks somewhat survived his beef with Draymond, the same cannot be said about when he decided to take shots at LeBron James. Insulting James turned out to be the final nail in the coffin of Brooks’ career with the Grizzlies.

Dillon Brooks Reportedly Wanted $25 Million Per Year From The Grizzlies

There are many reasons why Dillon Brooks will not return to play for the Grizzlies. His on-court antics were obviously a primary driving force behind his exit.

But apart from that, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne unveiled that Brooks’ contract demands were simply too high for the Grizzlies.

“Ramona Shelburne just said Dillon Brooks wants $25 million/year, which is why the Grizzlies are parting ways with him.”

Brooks averaged 14.3 PPG, 3.3 RPG, and 2.6 APG on 39.6% shooting from the field in the regular season. These numbers are certainly not worth a $25 million per year contract.

It will be interesting to see whether Brooks will find a new team this summer or if he will be out of the league. We will find out in the coming months.
