Erik Spoelstra is one of the best coaches in the NBA. He showcased his mastermind once again, and this time it was during the most important play in Game 5 vs. the Bucks. The Heat were down two points with just 2.1 seconds left, and he decided to trick Mike Budenholzer.
Coach Spo put Bam Adebayo on the bench, and the Bucks coach sent Brook Lopez to the bench as well. Budenholzer most likely thought the Heat would use speed for the final play. But the final play was a lob pass to Jimmy Butler, and there wasn’t a center from the Bucks to block him under the rim. Jimmy scored the clutch points and sent the game into overtime.
The score was tied at 118-118 following Butler’s crazy bucket from the lob pass. This play by coach Spoelstra arguably shifted the momentum in the Heat’s favor.
After a closely fought battle in overtime, the Miami Heat got a 128-126 win over the Bucks to advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Jimmy Butler Won The Series Almost Singlehandedly
Jimmy Butler always takes his game to the next level during the playoffs. He proved that once again in the first-round series vs. the Milwaukee Bucks.
After dropping 56 points in Game 4 of the series, Jimmy followed that performance by recording 42 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists in Game 5. Thanks to Butler’s heroic performance, the Heat eliminated the Bucks and have now booked a spot in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Speaking of Jimmy, so far in the playoffs, he has averaged 37.6 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 4.8 APG in five games. As a result, Giannis and the Bucks were no match for the Heat.
But can Butler maintain this form throughout the postseason? After all, he is also averaging 37.2 minutes per game. Fatigue will catch up to Jimmy sooner rather than later.
