The Miami Heat have made an insane run all the way to the NBA Finals, relying on their experience and Jimmy Butler’s elite performances. They have outhustled, outworked, and locked down every team in the Eastern Conference.

Recently, Erik Spoelstra revealed that he knew his team was good despite the fact that they were struggling during the regular season. He also noted that the Heat have been counted out.

“I think we’ve been discounted quite a bit.”

In the playoffs, it often comes down to which team can execute their game plan the best. The Miami Heat have excelled in that department, and it is clear that the team simply flipped a switch during the postseason.

The Miami Heat are clearly the underdogs against the Denver Nuggets, and it is definitely an uphill battle for them in terms of winning the title. However, they have shown that they should never be counted out, and anything can happen on the highest stage.

Erik Spoelstra Previously Compared The Miami Heat To Navy SEALs

This playoffs has definitively proven one thing: Heat culture is a real phenomenon. Their players are arguably the most well-conditioned and disciplined in the entire league, and previously, we saw Erik Spoelstra compare them to Navy SEALs, noting that their players are “hard-wired to compete”.

“Our guys are hard-wired to compete. We’ve said this in each series… We feel like we’re Navy SEALs. Just drop us off in parachutes, let’s get ready to go compete. We’re playing against a great opponent that we have deep respect for. But it’s competition. We feel like they’re in our way.”

It will be interesting to see if their intangibles will be able to carry the Miami Heat across the finish line. The intangible aspects of the game absolutely matter, and the team’s “next man up” mentality has definitely helped them withstand the absence of players like Tyler Herro. Hopefully, we see the Miami Heat make this a competitive series, and Tyler Herro potentially returning in Game 3 should be able to bolster their offense. Even though the Denver Nuggets still have a lot more talent, we have seen unpredictable upsets happen in the past.
