Two months after being suspended for brandishing a gun in his Instagram live video, Ja Morant has repeated his actions.

It’s obvious that the Memphis Grizzlies superstar hasn’t learned from his past mistakes. This time around, he could lose his endorsement deal with Nike. Speaking of which, ESPN’s Michael Wilbon recently revealed that Morant’s Nike shoes are now banned in his house.

“You can try to PR your way out of this through other social media forms and all of that. But the question is, is he going to do the work that is required of himself to get out of this and for this not to be the end? What’s going to happen now? Nike going to pull that shoe? Is Powerade going to pull that drink? I know in my house, I told Matthew, ‘You can’t have the shoe. I’m not buying that shoe. You’re not buying that shoe. Our money, as a family, is not going toward that.'”

At the end of the day, Ja Morant is still a 23-year-old kid. So making mistakes is normal for him. But making the same mistake twice is not acceptable.

Even more so when he is in a place where his actions can impact the youth, who think of him as a role model.

Morant is suspended indefinitely by the Memphis Grizzlies. There are rumors that the suspension could last anywhere from 50 games to a full season. To be honest, the NBA should go ahead with the decision in hopes of teaching Morant a valuable lesson.

Did Nike Make A Mistake By Giving Ja Morant His Own Line Of Shoes?

Kyrie Irving was let go by Nike following his controversy around sharing a link to a movie featuring anti-Semitic content. Nike gave Ja Morant his own signature shoe line in December 2022 in hopes of replacing Irving.

However, that decision has backfired twice due to Morant’s gun controversy. Previously, Nike showed support to Morant for the way he took accountability for his actions.

But just two months later, Morant repeated the same mistake. Keeping that in mind, it feels like the shoe company made a huge mistake by placing its trust in the Memphis Grizzlies.

It won’t be a surprise if the brand rescinds its deal with Morant. Nike is yet to make an official statement about Morant’s second gun incident. It shouldn’t be long before the brand clears the air about Ja’s future with Nike.
