The Atlanta Hawks’ season has ended at the hands of the Boston Celtics after the C’s closed out a game 6 win to clinch their first-round series 4-2.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 62 points in the win. Fans were stunned to see Trae Young carry the Hawks in the first half and then go 1/12 in the second half with no made field goals in the fourth quarter in a 30-point, 10-assist outing.

Trae Young’s extremely poor shooting in the second half could be one of the main reasons the Hawks lost this game.

Knicks fans are happy to be sitting in the second round while franchise nemesis Trae Young gets eliminated.

Young’s fourth quarter performance won’t be forgotten by many fans that easily.

A recent Jarrett Allen quote was used to mock Young further.

Jayson Tatum is racking up impressive career accomplishments fast, playing in his 80th playoff game at the age of 25.

Kevin O’Connor praised the intensity and heart with which the Hawks played this series.

One fan was happy to see Tatum finally have a strong performance after a series of inconsistencies.

Marcus Smart had a crucial offensive performance tonight with 22 points, though he did have some bad moments in the fourth quarter. Dejounte Murray struggled mightily and scored just 14 points, while DeAndre Hunter had a solid 20-point night.

The Hawks will go into the offseason optimistic after coach Quin Snyder’s positive impact is already helping the team be more competitive.

Will The Hawks Overhaul Their Roster?

It seems Atlanta has come to a sticking point with their roster with consecutive first-round losses. They added Dejounte Murray in the summer, but the move hasn’t shifted the needle enough for Atlanta to rise as competitors. With rumors of Trae Young possibly being moved over the summer, it seems Atlanta is not going to sit tight.

Young was great in this series, averaging 29.2 points, 10.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in the six games he played. Despite his late-game struggles, Young was single-handedly responsible for keeping the Hawks competitive in the game and the reason why the series reached a sixth game. There are problems that he needs to address in his game, but it’s not bad enough for the Hawks to want to trade him away.

Unless they can get a certified upgrade over the top-20 player that Young is, it could be a big move. But he’s shown enough in this playoff run to deserve another chance at carrying this franchise.
