The Milwaukee Bucks got trounced by the Boston Celtics on Thursday night, losing by a whopping 41 points. The Bucks went down big early, being down by 28 points at halftime. Speaking after the game, Giannis Antetokounmpo was brutally honest about what cost his team, calling his teammates out for a lack of effort.

“Know what the deal is? It’s not hard to understand,” Giannis said. “If you you’re not focused. If you don’t play hard, they’re gonna kick ass, simple as that. They did it tonight and won by 40. If you’re not locked in, if you don’t play hard, and if don’t go out there to make it tough for them, they’re gonna kick out ass. Simple as that.

“There’s no level of concern. It’s a fact. So now you have this in your head. And this is up to us to see how we’re gonna deal with it. Are we gonna go and play the same way? And if we play the same way, gonna have the same outcome.

“Gotta change some stuff. We gotta compete. Gotta have some pride, you know, and hopefully, we can do that; then, if we do that, we have a chance to win.”

Giannis Antetokoumpo is the poster child for hard work in the modern NBA; he has spoken about how much he works to be a top player in the league. Antetokounmpo is a candidate for the MVP award this season, which would be his 3rd if he won, and his teammates will be listening keenly to what he has to say after a devastating loss.

Giannis Antetokounmpo And The Milwaukee Bucks Could Still Lose The 1st Seed

With 5 games left, the Milwaukee Bucks have the best record in the NBA at 55-22. They are just 2 games ahead of the Boston Celtics after their recent loss, though. If they stumble at this stage, they may have to go through both the Celtics and the Sixers to make the NBA Finals, so it’s crucial for them to clinch the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

The team has all the talent and spirit in the world to bounce back, they won a championship less than 2 years ago. Giannis Antetokounmpo is still among the best in the business, and they have to learn from this Celtics loss that they cannot afford to lose focus if they want to continue being the league’s best team.
