The Miami Heat pulled off a big upset on Wednesday night, beating the No. 1 seed Milwaukee Bucks and sending them home in five games in the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

Following the game, Giannis made some big comments about his team and what they brought to the table during this game and the entire series. Antetokounmpo admitted that the Bucks were thinking of the future while the Heat’s entire focus was on this series (10:00 mark).

“I feel like they were playing to beat us, and we were playing to win a championship, which I don’t understand,” Giannis said after the elimination. “We were just a little ahead of ourselves, to be honest. But at the end of the day, it’s basketball. We have to give them credits, they kicked our butts.”

This tell-all conference showed that Giannis was really frustrated with the way the series went and how the season ended for the Bucks. Antetokounmpo even had an outburst with a reporter who asked if this season was a failure.

The Bucks appeared to be big favorites to come out of the East this year, but this series went wrong at the very beginning when Giannis picked up an injury that prevented him from playing in Game 2 and Game 3.

The Heat took advantage of that and led by an inspired Butler, made their way to the second round of the postseason, where the New York Knicks are waiting for them.

Giannis Gets Real On Guarding Jimmy Butler

This series had incredible moments and big duels, like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jimmy Butler. This was the matchup everybody wanted to see, but Mike Budenholzer had different plans, preventing fans from seeing these two monsters go at it one more time.

The Bucks will have many questions to answer this offseason, especially after this disappointing exit. Mike Budenholzer could be on his way out, given how Erik Spoelstra outcoached him all series long.

Perhaps it’s time for the Bucks to move on and find another coach that can take them back to the NBA Finals.
