The Golden State Warriors seem to be catching fire at the best possible time.
The defending champions struggled a lot before the All-Star break but they’ve been on a roll off late and have won 4 in a row. Jalen Rose is impressed by what he has seen and is picking them to beat the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs.
“I believe the depth and the experience of the Golden State Warriors will put them in a position to eliminate the Phoenix Suns in the first round,” said Rose on NBA Countdown. “And I ain’t stopping there. They’re gonna play the Denver Nuggets in the second round (and) I’m picking the Warriors to win that series too. Y’all seen them last night, wax the Clippers without Steph Curry, without Andrew Wiggins… The Golden State Warriors are in pole position to make the Western Conference Finals and even the NBA Finals.”
It was really an impressive win over the Los Angeles Clippers and they’ve shown flashes of their former selves during this winning streak. We have seen them absolutely crush the opposition in the 3rd quarter of their last two games and their defense, which was a major issue before the break, has improved a lot as well. They have also won these games without Stephen Curry, who looks set to return in a few days.
As things stand, the Warriors will face the Suns in the first round and then presumably the Nuggets in the Conference Semifinals. One could argue that’s the 3 best teams in the West at the moment and while Rose is confident the Warriors would beat them both, it is really hard to predict who would come out on top in those series.
Klay Thompson Says No One Would Want To Face A Healthy Warriors Squad In The Playoffs
Despite the Warriors’ struggles for long parts of the season, Klay Thompson was always confident that they would eventually get back on track and that seems to be the case now. Klay also stated after their win over the Trail Blazers that no team would want to face a healthy Warriors squad in the playoffs
No one has been able to beat the Warriors in the playoffs in the Western Conference when they’ve been healthy in the last 8 seasons, which explains why Klay feels that way. The Suns and the Nuggets would be confident of getting the better of them should the teams meet in the postseason, but neither would really be looking forward to that matchup.
