The life of an NBA player can be very difficult. Traveling across the country for 7-9 months, spending a lot of time away from your families, and being on the road can take a toll on athletes. Sometimes, players will reach cities late at night.
Strangely enough, Jalen Rose had an interesting reaction to arriving late at night in his hometown. Speaking about arriving in Detroit, where he is from, at 2 AM at night, Jalen Rose had an interesting quote, noting that hospitals and jails were the only things open, and people were partaking in other activities.
“By the time we got [to Detroit], it was almost 2 in the morning, because ain’t nothing open but hospitals, jails, and legs.”
Rose was clearly making a joke about his hometown. Detroit isn’t a city known for its vivid nightlife, so, Rose’s statement is not entirely incorrect. But these comments were also made years ago, and Detroit as a city may have changed drastically since then.
Jalen Rose Looking For New Opportunities
Jalen Rose, to many, is known for his time at the University of Michigan, as part of the fabled Fab Five. He also played in the NBA, having a successful stint in Indiana, before playing for other teams.
Most notably, he played against Kobe Bryant when Kobe had his legendary 81-point game, with Kobe even mocking him in a commercial years later by ordering a martini with 81 olives. Rose, despite the acclaimed career he had, still gets mocked for the 81-point performance.
After his playing career, Rose became an analyst for ESPN. He had a successful stint as a basketball analyst but was let go by ESPN recently. Most reports suggest he will be replaced by fellow former player Kendrick Perkins. Knowing how good an analyst Rose was, he won’t struggle to find a new endeavor.
