It was the Jamal Murray show in Game 2 between the Los Angeles Lakers vs. the Denver Nuggets. Murray struggled to get going in the first three quarters, scoring just 14 points.

But Murray exploded for 23 points in the fourth quarter and steered the Nuggets to a 108-103 win over the Lakers. Despite the phenomenal win, the media was more focused on the Lakers. Murray shared his thoughts on him and the rest of the Nuggets team being used to such treatment. He revealed it only motivates them to be better.

“I know we’re the Denver Nuggets, we’re used to that,” Murray said. “Even when we win, they talk about the other team. We beat the Clippers in the Bubble, they talk about the other team. Same old same old. It just fuels us a little more, and it’ll be sweeter when we win the chip.”

The Denver Nuggets are always underestimated by the media, but they prove their doubters wrong. They have been doing that in the 2023 NBA playoffs as well.

After eliminating the Phoenix Suns in the second round, the Nuggets now hold a 2-0 lead over the Lakers. The media attention is still on the Lakers, but it is certainly a blessing in disguise for the Nuggets.

Nikola Jokic Doesn’t Care About The Lack Of Media Attention In The Playoffs

If Jamal Murray is fueled by the lack of media attention, Nikola Jokic is someone who couldn’t care less about the same.

Jokic is having a phenomenal playoff run. He is averaging a stunning 30.4 PPG, 13.8 RPG, and 10.2 APG while shooting 54.9% from the field and 47.8% beyond the three-point line. Sure, Jokic is receiving praise, he deserves more attention from the media than he’s getting right.

But does it bother the Joker? Absolutely not. He revealed it’s normal for him and the Nuggets not to get enough spotlight.

“It’s nothing new for us. To be honest, I like it. We don’t care. Whatever. Even in the bubble when we beat Utah, it was they blew the lead. When we beat the Clippers, it was they blew the lead. Nobody talked about how we won those games. It’s normal for us. I don’t pay attention [to all of that].”

The Nuggets are in the perfect position to advance to the 2023 NBA Finals. All they need to do is keep up their current level of performance for two more games, and they will book a seat on the biggest stage in the league.
