Michael Jordan and Dwyane Wade developed a good relationship during the years the Miami Heat legend was in the league, creating a deep bond with his idol.

He never hid his admiration for MJ, but Wade never missed a chance to joke with His Airness, and once claimed Jordan retired from the league out of fear against him. Wade shared an old video where he jokingly calls out MJ for making this decision.

“I think Michael retired the year before I came into the league… Strategically,” Wade said while the public and Jordan himself laughed.

He shared an Instagram story with this video, showing that he was proud of going after MJ so smoothly.

“Who gets to talk a little shit to their basketball idol,” he wrote alongside several laughing emojis.

These two have shared a deep bond over the years, and Wade has never been shy when talking about MJ. Last year, he was in awe of witnessing his idol going at it with Magic Johnson during the All-Star Game, where the league celebrated the 75 best players in history.

Dwyane Wade Reveals How He Felt The First Time He Met Michael Jordan

The three-time NBA champion has often talked about Jordan’s legend and how great it was for him to grow up looking up to the Chicago Bulls legend. He once revealed how shocked he was the first time he met MJ, who showed up with 50 men to know the Miami Heat draftee many years ago.

Wade revealed that he modeled his game after Jordan and other players, but always had the GOAT as the first reference. In the end, that worked for him, as Wade became the third-best shooting guard in history, only behind his idol and Kobe Bryant.

Jordan had a big impact on Wade’s life and career, and he’ll never forget that. Mike marked an era in the NBA and plenty of players grew up idolizing him, including Wade, who is still in awe of His Airness after many years.
