Jimmy Butler has been one of the better playoff performers in the recent history of the NBA, leading the Heat to a Conference Finals Game 7 last season and the 2020 NBA Finals.

The Heat finished the regular season as the No. 1 seed last season but are jockeying for position against the Brooklyn Nets for the 6th seed this year. Regardless of where they end up, Butler is confident that the Heat are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs.

“I don’t give a damn. I just love playing basketball. We can beat anybody when we’re playing the right way. Play-in, here we come. Playoffs, here we come.” (h/t Yahoo Sports)

The Heat have a proven track record of elevating their level of play when the postseason comes around. Outside the 2021 playoffs, the other runs the team has made will be filling fans with confidence. Jimmy Butler is averaging 25.6 points, 5.9 assists, and 5.6 rebounds since the All-Star break.

Can The Miami Heat Take The 6th Seed?

Even if Butler is saying he’s ready for the play-in or the playoffs, the most ideal route for the Heat is to steal the 6th seed from the Nets. Their win over the Philadelphia 76ers tonight was a massive step toward this goal. Regrettably, Miami doesn’t control their own future as they are currently one game behind Brooklyn in the standings.

The Nets own the season tiebreaker over the Heat, so they will need to lose their remaining games against Orlando and Philadelphia to even give Miami a chance. Similarly, the Heat will need to win their final games against Washington and Orlando to end the season with 45 wins and face the 3-seed 76ers in the first round.
