Jimmy Butler put in a performance for the ages on Monday as he scored 56 points in the Miami Heat’s Game 4 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

It gives more credence to his ‘Playoff Jimmy’ nickname, but the man himself refuses to embrace it even after a performance like this one.

“It’s not a thing,” Butler said when asked if he was finally ready to accept that Playoff Jimmy is real. “It’s not. I just be hooping.”

(starts at 3:29 mark):

Whether he admits it or not, he does take his game to a whole other level in the postseason, and the Bucks were the unfortunate victims here. Butler scored 22 of the 28 points that the Heat managed in the first quarter and was the only reason why they were even in the game. After pacing himself a bit for the next two quarters, Butler dominated in the fourth, scoring 21 points to finish with 56 on the night.

Butler now averages 24.7 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 5.5 APG, and 1.9 SPG in the playoffs for the Heat, while his regular season averages with them stand at 21.5 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 5.9 APG, and 1.8 SPG. The difference isn’t that big, but it is certainly there, and we have seen him really elevate his game in the postseason since the 2022 playoffs.

In his 21 playoff games since last year, Butler is averaging 29.1 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 4.7 APG, and 2.0 SPG while shooting 53.1% from the field. Those are some very impressive numbers, and provided he stays healthy, expect him to keep up this level for the rest of the postseason.

Charles Barkley Had Very High Praise For Jimmy Butler After His 56-Point Explosion

Charles Barkley joined TNT as an analyst all the way back in 2000 and he has seen some incredible performances in the playoffs since then. He stated this performance from Butler was the best he has ever seen in the postseason since he has been on television.

Barkley had LeBron James’ performance against the Detroit Pistons in 2007 as the best prior to this one, when James had scored 25 points in a row in a win in Game 5. This explosion from Butler surpassed even that one for Barkley, which shows just how impressed he was by what he saw.
