Jimmy Butler once again rose and shone in these playoffs, finishing with 27 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks in Game 2.

He led the Miami Heat to a 111-105 win over the Boston Celtics, thanks to a 24-9 run to close out the game. That run began after Grant Williams talked trash to Butler and the Heat superstar said it did fuel him.

“Yes it did,” Butler said when asked if the incident fueled him. “But that’s just competition at its finest. He hit a big shot, started talking to me, I like that, I’m all for that. It makes me key in a lot more and it pushes that will that I have to win a lot more. It makes me smile, it does when people talk to me… I do respect him though. He’s a big part of what they try to do, he switches, he can shoot the ball. I just don’t know if I’m the best person to talk to.”

(starts at 0:58 mark):

Butler had scored 0 points in the quarter before that incident and after it, scored 9 as he matched the Celtic’s tally in that time by himself. While it got Butler going, it would be a bit unfair to blame Williams for this loss, as his teammates just went cold on offense after this too. That was the point brought up by Bill Simmons as well, as he stated that Butler has been doing this all playoffs and the Celtics have blown games like this all season long.

Jimmy Butler Has Been A Man On A Mission In These Playoffs

While Butler denies that ‘Playoff Jimmy’ exists, his opponents certainly would agree that he takes his game to another level in the postseason. He is now averaging 31.1 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 5.6 APG, 2.2 SPG, and 0.8 BPG while shooting 51.1% in these playoffs. Butler and Nikola Jokic have been the best players in these playoffs and as things stand, look set to collide in the NBA Finals

Butler boldly said this is the year they win it all and it would be an incredible story if they do. Absolutely no one picked them to get this far after a disappointing regular season but they have caught fire in the playoffs and are just two wins away from getting back to the Finals.
