The Philadelphia 76ers are widely considered to be a contending team in the Eastern Conference. They have a lot of talent on their roster, with their two best players being Joel Embiid and James Harden

Recently, we saw a former Philadelphia 76ers superstar drop his take on their chances to win the championship this season. Julius Erving claimed that the team has a “good shot”, and that there’s “an undeniable desire” from the team to win it all this year. Sam DiGiovanni of ClutchPoints relayed the news.

“I think they got a good shot. This is probably the best shot that I’ve seen in recent years,” Erving said. “But this team, they seem to be very resilient,” Erving said. “They are definitely dynamic in terms of having a blend of weapons. Got our big guy, the top scorer in the league. Got Maxey, who’s a dynamo. Harden, a former MVP, on any given night can be the dominant player on the floor no matter who they’re playing against. Then the role guys. Tobias does what he’s supposed to do. I like watching them…I just like that there’s a chemistry there and there’s an undeniable desire to want to win.”

It is true that this version of the Philadelphia 76ers is the most talented roster that they’ve put around Joel Embiid during the center’s tenure with the team. James Harden has also said this will be his best chance to win a championship. Hopefully, they can get far this season, and they are definitely dark horse contenders. It would be no surprise to see them make the Finals.

The Philadelphia 76ers Are Legitimate Contenders In The Eastern Conference

There are a lot of people who are high on the Philadelphia 76ers potentially getting out of the Eastern Conference. In fact, Brian Windhorst previously explained why he believes they are a threat to win the East.

“They started the season off 12-12, and they had injuries to Tyrese Maxey and James Harden. Since that 12-12 start, they are 26-7. But when you watch this team play at full power, they are as good as anybody. If you look at the dynamics of the East over the last decade, a team of this magnitude would probably be the overwhelming favorite to win the East,” said Brian Windhorst.

Windhorst makes some good points here, and from a talent standpoint, it is true that the Philadelphia 76ers can match up with anybody. However, the playoffs will be the real test for them, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
