The Los Angeles Lakers acquiring Russell Westbrook gave birth to a new super team in the league. The purple and gold already had two of the best players in the league, LeBron James and Anthony. Now, adding Russ to the mix has bolstered the organization’s title aspirations even further.
However, there are many who are doubting how this arrangement will work. Since it is not news that both LeBron James and Russell Westbrook need to have the ball in their hands to make things happen.
While this might be true to some extent, the two stars have proven in the past that they are open to adjustment. ‘Bron did it during his stint with the Miami Heat and the return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. On the other hand, Brodie proved that when he donned the uniform of the Houston Rockets.
Former NBA star and now-analyst Kendrick Perkins gave a stunning reply to doubters of the Lakers in “The Jump.”
“Aye, don’t touch that oven, it’s hot. Then you have to learn, you touch that oven, you are going to get burned,” said Perkin. “This is what is about to happen to all the people that are doubting or having something to say whether Russell Westbrook and LeBron James are going to work on the court. Yes, it’s going to work, ok?”
Perkins further continued, “Russell Westbrook has proven to us that he’s the guy that is willing to facilitate for others. LeBron James don’t want to carry that load no more. LeBron James has shown us that he can play alongside another non-shooting superstar as he did with Dwyane Wade and still win championships. Look. to all the people that are doubting Russ and LeBron and the Lakers, answer this: When we get to the postseason name a team just in the Western Conference along, that could beat this Lakers team fully healthy in a seven-game series and I’ll wait.”

After a disappointing run last year, the Lakers are expected to make a comeback. At the end of the day, it will all come down to how the three superstars will manage to coexist together on the court.
