Bronny James remains a hot prospect ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft, as he’s expected to be a lottery pick. LeBron James’ eldest son has the chance to carry his father’s legacy and create his own history in the association.

While many are convinced that he’ll have a terrific NBA career, not everybody believes that Bronny will be that good. Kenny Smith, for instance, is doubtful that the young player will even make it to the league (5:51 mark).

“His son is at USC [speaking of LeBron] and he has to go through a process to possibly get into the NBA that is very hard to get to and people forget. 75 years of basketball Big, there’s only been 5,100 players that touch a floor!” Smith said on BigBoyTV. “So to be waiting on your son to be one of those 5,100, that doesn’t even make sense, like, he’s not waiting on his son. He’s hopefully wishing his son will make it”.

Smith called Bronny’s chances to make it to the league improbable, probably becoming the first high-profile name to make this type of claim. The 2x NBA champion knows what it takes to make it to the league, and even though Bronny has shown interesting things in high school, the Houston Rockets legend isn’t sure about James’ chances to become the second in his family to land in the NBA.

LeBron says he’s not losing sleep over that possibility, but everybody knows he would love to share touches with Bronny in the league. Depending on where he lands next year, if he makes it, LeBron would decide to not pursue this goal anymore and simply let his son be, as he’s always used to play for contenders and Bronny will likely be drafted by a rebuilding team.

Bronny James Committed To USC Trojans

As for now, the 18-year-old is set to start his new chapter in his amateur career. He committed to USC a couple of weeks ago, staying in Los Angeles for the year he’ll spend in college.

After that, nobody knows what will happen, as some think LeBron will try to get the Los Angeles Lakers to draft Bronny or he could leave the Purple and Gold to join whatever team ends up getting his firstborn.

This is an interesting situation that could go very well for Bronny or could become hard for him, as Smith claims it won’t be easy for him to make it to the association.
