In a chat with Jake Paul and Dr. Paul Saladino on the ‘Impaulsive’ podcast, NBA superstar Kevin Durant did not hold back his punches against popular American streamer ‘IShowSpeed’ when he tried to offer some of his wisdom on women. In a viral encounter, Durant checked Speed for trying to give him relationship advice and created a rather awkward situation for everyone in the studio.

Durant: “Stop giving me advice on women…”

Speed: “Durant got his heart broken I used to be just like him, that one hand won’t last forever…”

Durant: “Stop talking to me like I need advice on women, bro. Every time I explain my stance to people they say some sh*t like that. Like ‘damn bro you just been hurt’ but like I enjoy spending time with them it’s just maybe not as long as you like to spend time with people, man.”

The exchange carried on for a bit and Durant did not let up when Speed tried to offer his perspective and convince Durant that his lifestyle was wrong. For the former MVP, Speed (who has over 26 million Twitch subscribers) is unqualified to even have the discussion and his general inexperience in life became cannon fodder for Durant as the conversation carried on.

Speed: “That one hand won’t last forever. You need something that’s gonna last forever.”

Durant: “Hand? Bro, you’re 16, do not compare yourself to me, you have no other resources but your hand please don’t put me in that same tier as you.”

It’s no secret that Durant, 35, is single and childless. He’s one of the few NBA stars in the league without any known kids or long-term romantic relationships of any kind. While there’s no doubt the successful and famous multi-millionaire has plenty of suitors, he’s made a choice to stay on his own and live life on his own terms.

In the process, he’s been able to focus entirely on hoops and it’s worked to great effect so far as a 2x champion, MVP, and 14x All-Star. This past season for the Suns, his 16th total, he averaged 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game on 52.3% shooting.

Kevin Durant Tells “IShowSpeed” To Back Off

Durant had a lot to say on the podcast, and most of it was in response to young streamer ‘IShowSpeed,’ who was visibly nervous and star-struck during the show. Besides the exchange about women, Durant confronted Speed for leaning too close and “gazing” into his eyes like a love-struck fanboy.

“Yoo, back up! You got your leg propped up, gazing into my eyes. Like, for real, back up off me. For real, lean up or something.”

Durant, 35, has been mostly out of the public eye this offseason but he made an exception to appear on the podcast. The 2x champion is currently in the throws of Olympic play for Team USA and he’s been hard at work preparing his body for the grind ahead and for the season to come.

Durant brought his usual dose of honesty on the podcast and he answered a wide range of questions from life to basketball and everything in between and he did not hold back in his responses.

From an outsider’s perspective, it might seem like Durant has a problem with Speed, or at the very least finds him annoying. In reality, the two could be tight friends who share a kind of brotherly camaraderie. Either way, their tension was palpable and whilst it’s hard to argue against some of Durant’s points, some would argue that Durant could have been more generous in his delivery.

Of course, Kevin checked him numerous other times throughout the show, including when Speed admitted to having all of his shoes and Kevin told him to ‘get off my d**k.’ In total, he went off on Speed for at least four minutes throughout the program.

It seems to be all in good fun between Durant and Speed, but it’s still interesting to hear the two jaw at each other like this. Durant, who has long been considered an “antagonizer” online is clearly willing to defend himself and he’s not afraid to people people in their place when he feels like they are talking about something they have no business to.
