This time, he was unveiled as the Black Mamba Edition and the standard edition, known as the Kobe Bryant Edition.

The other cover athletes will be revealed at a later date, as the series has seen multiple cover stars featured in some years.

Kobe died aged 41 in a tragic chopper crash in 2020. He had a decorated career in the NBA spanning 20 seasons, during which he won the NBA championship five times.

He played the entirety of his NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers, and the team retired both his jersey numbers 8 and 24 upon his retirement.

He was already featured in the 2K21’s Mamba Forever Edition, which was made as a homage to his career after his death. Prior to that, he appeared on the cover of the 2K10 and the 2K17.
