Shannon Sharpe will be leaving Undisputed and his co-host Skip Bayless at the end of the NBA Finals, marking the end of a very successful tenure on Fox as a co-host.

Kyrie Irving saw the news of Shannon’s departure on Twitter and simply said ‘lol’, with a gif that says this is something Sharpe should have done a long time ago.

It’s no surprise that most NBA players do not like Skip Bayless after his years of concentrated attacks on players like LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Irving has also been on the receiving end of unflattering coverage from Bayless, so his support for Shannon is unsurprising. Sharpe obviously has a great relationship with LeBron and hasn’t antagonized players as heavily as Skip over the years.

Kyrie Irving Bracing For A Media Storm This Summer

Irving having strong thoughts on the prominent shows and voices that talk about him and his career is not surprising. He will be entering free agency this summer and is likely going to be at the center of one of the most fascinating storylines of the summer. Will he re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks or find a way to rejoin LeBron on the Los Angeles Lakers?

The likelihood of a Lakers sign-and-trade looks increasingly unlikely, given Dallas not wanting to participate in helping other teams sign Irving, let alone conference rivals like the Lakers. The Mavs are also expected to offer Irving a max contract, the thing he wanted the Nets to give him before forcing a trade to a team that would be amenable to that.

It’ll be interesting to see if Shannon Sharpe will be giving his opinions on that someplace else by the time free agency rolls around in July.
