The last few hours have been all about LeBron James. James has finally broken one of the most prestigious records in the history of the NBA. Yes, we are talking about surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and becoming the league’s all-time scoring leader.
LeBron James achieved this feat against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers may have lost the game, but the King was still labeled as the GOAT by most NBA fans. It’s one thing if the fans or the media say that James is the GOAT, it’s totally different when the Lakers superstar says that himself.
James recently claimed that in a viral interview with ESPN. During the interview, LeBron explained why he should be considered the GOAT. But did LeBron stop there? No. He decided to remind everyone that once again during a short talk with Shaquille O’Neal.
LeBron James Gets Honest About Why He Thinks He Is The GOAT
After breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record, LeBron James was interviewed by Shaquille O’Neal, and during the short interview, James explained why he is the greatest basketball player of all time.

“I’m gonna let everybody else decide who that is, or talk about it, but it’s great barbershop talk. Me personally, I’m going to take myself against anybody who has ever played this game. But everyone is going to have their favourite, and everyone is going to decide who their favorite is, but I know what I’ve brought to the table, I know what I bring to the table every single night, and what I can do out on this floor. I always feel like I’m the best to ever play this game, but there’s so many other great ones that I’m happy to just be a part of their journey.”
LeBron was initially hesitant about giving a straight answer to the question, but when Shaq demanded a straight answer, James did admit that he believes he is the greatest basketball player of all time.
Of course, considering LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan’s career comparison, that may break the bubble for many fans. Even if a few fans want to compare the two greats’ NBA Finals performances, Jordan is undoubtedly better than LeBron as of now.
Either way, breaking the NBA’s all-time scoring record is no small feat, and it has certainly helped James in building an even more credible case for being considered the GOAT.
