Forward Rui Hachimura was one of the midseason acquisitions for the Los Angeles Lakers this season. It is easy to see why the team acquired him, as he looks to be a solid two-way player going forward.

At the end of this season, Rui Hachimura will be a restricted free agent. It has already been revealed that the team will try to retain him, and a recent report from Sean Deveney of Heavy revealed that they could give Hachimura a deal that is in the ballpark of $39 million over three years.

“They won’t break the bank for Hachimura, of course, but neither will anyone else. One GM estimated a deal similar to the one Kentavious Caldwell-Pope signed with the Lakers in 2020—three years, $39 million, and texted on Sunday, ‘He is earning himself maybe even more in this game.’”

There is no doubt that this is a solid deal for a young player with potential like Rui Hachimura. It will be relatively short to allow him to sign another big-money contract in his prime while also giving him a solid amount of guaranteed money.

This season, Rui Hachimura averaged 9.6 PPG, 4.7 RPG, and 0.7 APG with the Los Angeles Lakers. However, he has stepped up in the playoffs, averaging almost 25 PPG love the course of the Lakers’ first two games in the series against the Grizzlies. He could end up getting a big-time deal from another team as well, and we’ll see if the Lakers end up keeping him.

LeBron James Had Huge Praise For Rui Hachimura

Superstar LeBron James is a huge fan of Rui Hachimura’s frequently praising him. In fact, he previously revealed that he constantly tries to motivate Hachimura, adding that it helps the Lakers “be a complete team.”

“I just try to stay in his ear, give him positive motivation and positive messages, telling him how important he is to our team. And for us to reach the goal we want to reach, he has to be a huge part of that. And he wants to be. He’s asked me multiple times, ‘What do I need to do to help the team win?’ And I tell him exactly what he needs to do.

“It’s not about making shots, that happens. His presence alone, his size, his athleticism. It brings another dynamic to our club… He helps us be a complete team.”

It remains to be seen if Rui Hachimura’s great playoff performances will continue. He has certainly been stellar thus far, and the hope will be that he can continue with this sort of production.
