The Los Angeles Lakers are riding high after a strong win over the Orlando Magic last night, helping them improve their record to 10-6 since the trade deadline and 10-5 since they incorporated their new players.
The Lakers are looking to reinforce their big-man depth by working out veterans Tristan Thompson and Tony Bradley in the coming week.
The Los Angeles Lakers are working out free agent centers Tristan Thompson and Tony Bradley this week, sources tell me and @jovanbuha. Thompson, an 11-year NBA veteran, was a key member of the 2016 championship Cavaliers team alongside LeBron James.

The Lakers have been without Mo Bamba due to injury, leaving their center rotation stuck between Anthony Davis and Wenyen Gabriel. Jarred Vanderbilt has also played minutes at center. They previously worked out DeMarcus Cousins and Meyers Leonard, with Boogie still being available and Leonard having signed with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Are These The Right Targets For The Lakers?
The Lakers definitely need a short-term solution to their center depth, but the same should have come maybe a week or so earlier. Bamba has been out for a few weeks and the need to get another body in that position has been looming over the team, especially when Anthony Davis can’t play.
Tristan Thompson is a former teammate of LeBron James‘ and the pair won a title together. Bradley was on the same team as Troy Brown Jr., and is still young, unlike Thompson. Both of them played on the Chicago Bulls last season, with Thompson averaging 6.0 points and 5.1 rebounds, with Bradley averaging 3.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks.
Given the fact that only 10 games are left in the season, the decision to fill this position may be immaterial. But if they want a short-term plug-in, they will have to take the best options available. These are two of the best given the circumstances.
