Forward Miles Bridges had a productive season in 2021-22, averaging 20.2 PPG, 7.0 RPG, and 3.8 APG for the Charlotte Hornets. He is clearly a talented player on the court.

However, there is no doubt that Bridges has had some legal issues that have clearly steered teams away from signing him. In July of 2022, there were felony domestic violence and child abuse charges filed against him. Since then, there has been no indication of any potential return for the forward, and he did not play a single game during the 2022-23 season. However, Miles Bridges recently posted a Tweet that suggested he will be back soon.

Miles Bridges is a restricted free agent for the Charlotte Hornets, meaning that the team can match any deal that he gets. It is hard to see him end up on another team, but it is certainly possible that the Hornets will decide not to retain him due to the legal issues he has had.

Miles Bridges Pleaded No Contest To A Felony Domestic Violence Charge

Miles Bridges notably pleaded no contest to a domestic violence charge and has served no jail time as a result of his deal with the prosecutors. As mentioned previously, he had multiple felony charges against him.

“Charlotte Hornets restricted free agent Miles Bridges pleaded no contest to a felony domestic violence charge Thursday morning in Los Angeles Superior Court and will face three years of probation and no jail time as part of a deal with prosecutors.”

“The no-contest plea means Bridges, who was present in court, is accepting the punishment and the conviction without formally admitting guilt in the case. Bridges was accused of assaulting his then-girlfriend in front of their two children in May. In July, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon’s office filed three felony charges against Bridges, who initially pleaded not guilty to all three.”

There is no doubt that what Miles Bridges did was unacceptable, and if he doesn’t get picked up by a team, that is completely understandable. We’ll have to wait to see what comes of this situation in the future, but it seems as though Bridges is confident about a potential return.
