Notably, Los Angeles Lakers guards D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves both received an overall rating of 81, highlighting their importance to the Lakers’ backcourt but also raising questions about how the two compare within the game’s parameters.

D’Angelo Russell, known for his scoring ability and playmaking, has had an up-and-down career with flashes of brilliance. Despite his talent, his consistency has been a point of contention, especially during the Lakers’ recent playoff run. His rating of 81 reflects both his potential and his struggles to maintain high-level performance regularly.

Austin Reaves, on the other hand, has become a fan favorite in Los Angeles, emerging as a reliable two-way player. His 81 rating might surprise some, considering he was undrafted just a couple of years ago. However, his ability to hit clutch shots, play solid defense, and complement the Lakers’ stars has earned him this recognition. He shares the same rating as Russell, which shows how much he has developed and the value he brings to the team.

Klay Thompson, one of the most recognizable names in this range, is rated 81 despite a down year and his recent move to the Dallas Mavericks. Thompson’s rating might reflect his struggles with injuries and inconsistency last season, but his shooting ability and experience still make him a valuable asset, particularly as the Mavericks look to strengthen their roster.

Veteran Chris Paul also finds himself with an 81 rating. Known for his basketball IQ and leadership, Paul’s rating might seem low compared to his past seasons. However, at this stage in his career, his physical limitations have started to show, and this rating reflects the balance between his skill set and his current ability to perform at an elite level, as he begins his journey at the San Antonio Spurs.

The inclusion of young talents like Brandon Miller (81) and Keegan Murray (80) also stands out. Both players are seen as rising stars, and their ratings suggest that NBA 2K25 sees them as key contributors moving forward. Miller, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, has high expectations, while Murray, coming off a solid sophomore campaign, continues to show promise.

Jaden McDaniels, who starts the list at 100 with an 80 overall rating, is another player on the rise. Known for his defensive prowess, McDaniels’ rating reflects his growing importance to the Minnesota Timberwolves, particularly as a versatile defender who can guard multiple positions.

Meanwhile, Naz Reid, who received a bump to an 81 rating after his impressive performances as the Timberwolves’ sixth man, shows that bench players who make a significant impact are not overlooked. His versatility as a big man who can shoot, defend, and rebound has made him a valuable piece for Minnesota.

Jerami Grant (82), who ranks 74th, is another versatile forward who can score and defend at a high level. His ability to contribute on both ends of the floor for the Portland Trail Blazers has earned him a solid rating in this range.

This section of the NBA 2K25 ratings list showcases a mix of veteran presence, rising stars, and key role players who will all play pivotal roles for their respective teams. The equal ratings for D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves, in particular, highlight the depth and versatility of the Lakers’ backcourt, while the inclusion of players like Klay Thompson, Chris Paul, and Jerami Grant emphasizes the game’s recognition of both past accomplishments and current capabilities.

As the NBA season approaches, these ratings will surely be a topic of conversation as fans debate whether they accurately reflect the players’ true value on the court.
