• Derrick Rose was having an animated phone conversation on a sidewalk

• Fans were shocked to see the former MVP just standing out in the open, alone

• Rose will be playing for the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2023-24 season

NBA players are regular people before they are basketball superstars. They end up doing perfectly normal things that you or I would do, but we’re just not used to seeing players be visible to us while doing those things.

Derrick Rose was spotted in the middle of a city, standing on a sidewalk and having an intense phone conversation, shocking the fan that came across this.

Rose is considered an icon by many fans with his pre-injury career heavily resonating with kids in the 2010s. Now, those same fans are adults and keep carrying the Rose flag high and get excited every time they see him. On the other hand, players like Mac McClung can’t even be recognized by people wearing his jersey.

Derrick Rose Revitalizing The Grizzlies

Rose signed with the Memphis Grizzlies after the New York Knicks let him go. This is a homecoming for Rose, who played college basketball in Memphis before becoming the No. 1 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He played limited minutes for the Knicks last season, making only 27 appearances and averaging 5.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists over that time.

He will finally add a veteran voice to the Grizzlies locker room. Even though he has made some egregious off-court mistakes of his own, the hope will be that Rose can mentor Ja Morant and keep his focus on the court.

With Morant being suspended for the first 25 games of the season and Tyus Jones having gone to the Wizards, Rose will be expected to contribute on-court in a guard rotation that’ll mainly comprise him and Marcus Smart until Ja returns.
