Michael Jordan’s tenure as the owner of the Charlotte Hornets ended after 13 years. It was reported that Jordan sold his majority share in the franchise for approximately $3 billion.
Jordan’s ownership stint faints in comparison to what he achieved during his playing career. But will it affect his GOAT status? Most certainly not. However, NBA analyst Nick Wright recently took a shot at MJ’s status as the GOAT following an underwhelming run as an NBA owner.
“His ownership tenure of the Hornets was identical to his playing tenure when Scottie Pippen wasn’t his teammate.”
Nick Wright says Michael Jordan’s tenure as Hornets owner should affect his GOAT status

Nick Wright is known to be a longtime LeBron James supporter, but despite that, it’s a new low for the FS1 analyst. NBA fans on Twitter brutally roasted him after the terrible claim.
A fan thinks Wright is a Michael Jordan hater.
He hates Jordan so much dude has nightmares of MJ. 🤣

A fan calmly disagreed with Wright.
Totally disagree… as a player, MJ will remain as one of the all-time NBA greats… his performance as a front office director and owner of the Hornets will not adversely affect his legacy on the court… -DW

Another fan labeled it as one of the worst takes in NBA history.
Nick Wright with one of the worst takes you’ll ever see, nothing new here. Standard procedure

A fan called him the worst analyst out there.

A fan couldn’t believe that Wright’s serious.
He can't be serious Lmfao wtf

During Michael Jordan’s time as the owner, the Hornets only managed to advance to the postseason twice (2014,2016). But it isn’t a knock on MJ’s title as the greatest player of all time. After all, he won six NBA Championships and six NBA Finals MVPs, among other accolades, during his playing time.
It’s truly astonishing to see such a ridiculous take being aired on national TV. Hopefully, Wright apologizes for his comments.
Michael Jordan Made A Huge Profit By Selling His Majority Shares In The Hornets
One can diminish Jordan’s stint as the majority owner of the Hornets, but he still made a huge profit by selling the franchise.
Back in 2010, MJ purchased the Hornets for just $275 million, and he reportedly sold it for approximately $3 billion in 2023. It once again proves that Mike is a terrific businessman.
One side note, Mike made more money by selling the Hornets than he made with Nike in 40 years. Now, that’s what you call a GOAT move by the Chicago Bulls legend.
