The Golden State Warriors desperately needed another legendary Game 6 performance from Klay Thompson on Friday but it wasn’t to be.

Thompson had an absolutely horrific showing instead, as he scored just 8 points on 3-19 shooting from the field. Thanks, in part, to his struggles, the Warriors were blown out 122-101 by the Los Angeles Lakers, and NBA fans roasted Klay for this showing.

One believes Thompson is officially washed now.

A fan brutally trolled Thompson for playing so badly when he finally got a chance to play against the Lakers in the playoffs.

A fan claimed Game 6 Klay was never a thing.

A fan thinks Klay played even worse than he did last year.

A fan claims Thompson never has those legendary games against LeBron James-led teams.

Klay was just 2-12 from beyond the arc as well and a lot of those shots were open. Had he made a few of them, the game would have been much closer and who knows, maybe the Warriors could have won.

Thompson finished this series with averages of 16.2 PPG, 4.5 RPG, and 2.3 APG while shooting 34.4% from the field and 38.1% from beyond the arc. He had stated before the series that he had been waiting 12 years to face the Lakers in the playoffs but wasn’t able to deliver against them.

The Warriors Want Klay Thompson To Take A Pay Cut

Immediately after this game, a report came out stating the Warriors expect Klay to take a pay cut if he signs an extension this summer. It is hardly a surprise and it probably would have been the case even if he had played fairly well here.

An earlier report, however, had claimed that Klay is expecting a max contract this offseason. This will certainly be a situation to keep an eye on and it’ll be interesting to see how Thompson would react if he doesn’t get the kind of deal that he is expecting from Golden State.
