A couple of days ago, people pointed out Draymond Green for saying that he was ‘tired’ of watching female athletes just complain about the pay gap in sports, claiming that they should do something else about it.
His comments rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, especially USWNT superstar Megan Rapinoe. The soccer star and activist didn’t hesitate to take swipe at the Warriors’ forward, claiming that he should’ve been more educated before making that comment:
“It’s really unfortunate, in the position [Green’s] in. Having all of the resources that he has and the ability to have a much more educated opinion, that he just hasn’t,” Rapinoe said.
That’s why Draymond had to clear the air during the Warriors’ media session, citing that his comments were misconstrued and that he’s actually on their side:
“I’ve been waiting on y’all to ask me. I think what I’ve said has been extremely misconstrued,” Green said. “Because I am on their side.”
“At the end of the day, what Megan wants and what I want is the same thing. And, if she believes doing something a certain way gets her to the end goal, I’m all for that. And, if I believe doing something a certain way gets to the end goal, I’m all for that. So, if we can both do something to move the needle to get to the end goal, great,” the forward added.
“I have no complaints with whatever it is she wants to do, or any woman athlete wants to do, or anyone who is trying to help drive their cause and what they want to be done. It doesn’t matter to me how we get there. What matters to me is that we get there,” Green concluded.

It’s unfortunate that WNBA players barely make a living for their talents and that they have to play overseas and year-round basketball just to get by. Hopefully, that situation will change soon, as they definitely deserve more money for their talents and hard work.
