Tyler Herro Shares His Disappointment Over Being Linked In Trade Rumors For Donovan Mitchell: “Keep That Same Energy”

3 Min Read

Tyler Herro was one of the most talked about names in the 2022 offseason, but not for the right reasons. It seems the Miami Heat offered Herro for any All-Star caliber player that was available on the trade market. Herro formed the backbone of Miami’s offers to Brooklyn for Kevin Durant, and he played the same role in alleged offers for Donovan Mitchell in Utah

With KD staying in Brooklyn and Mitchell being moved to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a very handsome price, Herro is probably going to start the season as a member of the Miami Heat. But as we have seen with teams offering players in unsuccessful trades before, the player itself is never happy about the situation.

After the Mitchell trade was announced, Herro sent out a cryptic tweet, asking people to ‘keep the same energy’. Whether this was directed towards the fans or the Heat front office is not known, but what can be determined is that Herro isn’t the happiest right now. He allegedly wanted the Heat to not pursue trade options to send him away and run it back one more season

This won’t result in Herro requesting a trade but probably elevating his play on the court. He showed his talent coming off the bench last season and is probably going to be moved into the starting lineup for the upcoming season.

Herro’s ability to score the ball is incredibly valuable on this Heat team, as he is one of their best perimeter isolation scorers. While Jimmy Butler is the best offensive weapon on the team, he doesn’t possess Herro’s ability to make long-range shots. Despite what he brought to the Heat, they were content with moving him instead of watching his development through.

Herro will have a chip on his shoulder heading into next season after what just transpired this offseason. If he can prove to the fans, his own team, and other front offices that he is built like a future star, maybe he gets in a position to have better control over his future moves in the league.
