Former NBA champion Lamar Odom once revealed Kevin Garnett’s weird reaction to facing him and other athletic players on the Clippers such as Darius Miles. Odom recounted a story that featured Kevin Garnett saying the players on the Clippers “got my d*** hard” when reacting to the dunks that the Clippers did.
“We got a real athletic team and we were paying the [Minnesota] Timberwolves one night and there were a lot of dunks. KG was like ‘Ohhhh, these young n-word got my d*** hard!’ … he’s just extra intense, man. Extra intense. You had to always come with it and had to step it up,”
There is no doubt that Kevin Garnett could be intense on the court, but that just shows his will to win at any cost. He was a wild trash-talker as well. While obviously trash-talk is part of basketball, Kevin Garnett has been called out for the things he said in the past, with Udonis Haslem saying that some of the things he said had “nothing to do with basketball“.
“Much respect to the career that Kevin Garnett had and the success that he had,” Haslem said. “But the s— that come out his mouth sometime ain’t got nothing to do with basketball and is the most disrespectful s— I ever heard in my life. For me in situations in the Boston Celtics series that got hot and heated, I needed Chris (Bosh) to step up one time and I would’ve handled the rest. But it never got to that point.”
It is quite likely that other people have some similar stories to tell about Kevin Garnett. Though he is a little controversial, it was clear that Kevin Garnett was a fantastic player on the court.
