Vernon Maxwell Trolls Utah Jazz Fans After Donovan Mitchell Trade To Cleveland: “The Next 3 Years Will Be Miserable, You Guys Had It Coming.”

One of the most entertaining basketball personalities one could follow on Twitter is former Houston Rockets guard Vernon Maxwell. Maxwell seems to have a very real disdain for the state of Utah, often sending out tweets that look to hate on the city, its team, and its fans. With the Jazz having blown up their contending core, Maxwell dropped an utter gem.

The Jazz blowup started with the trade that set the tone for the 2022 offseason as Rudy Gobert went for a handsome price to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The price set by the Gobert trade ultimately led to possible trades for Kevin Durant to fail. The Jazz have finally moved Donovan Mitchell, sending him to the Cleveland Cavaliers for 5 first-round picks, Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, and Ochai Agbaji.

Maxwell decided to mark the end of a competitive Jazz team with a ruthless quote towards the fanbase in the state. He first said that Donovan deserved to be around civilization instead of being stuck in Utah before cheering on the fact that Utah will not have a strong team for the next few seasons.

Maxwell is a former 2-time champion and was a crucial piece of the Houston Rockets led by Hakeem Olajuwon that won the NBA titles in 1994 and 1995.

The Jazz are definitely staring down the barrel of a rebuild after these moves. They still have veteran playoff players on their roster in Mike Conley, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Jordan Clarkson. They will most likely move those players for ideal trades to acquire even more assets and fully bottom out to tank for Victor Wembanyama.

The Jazz fanbase will definitely be upset to see a 5-year prime of their team with Mitchell and Gobert ending without even a Conference Finals appearance. However, they can take some solace in the fact that they are loaded with future assets and could hit big in the next few drafts or use their picks to make trades to acquire more stars in the future.
