Lakers fans are patiently awaiting the arrival of Luka Doncic to the court this season but it seems LeBron James is also eager to take the court with his new superstar teammate. In his latest post on Instagram, James posted a photo with him and Luka as he teased the fans on all the good things to come.

It’s the first time that Luka has been on James’ socials in Lakers gear and it’s still something that is taking time to get used to. But for James, who saw the departure of his longtime co-star Anthony Davis, this trade is an opportunity for his team to prosper for the next 10+ years and for him to contend for titles in the final leg of his career.

Tonight was also when we saw our first look at Luka in his Lakers gear, which completely broke the internet when released. Despite a rough departure from Dallas, Doncic looks happy and comfortable with his new team and he looks ready for a fresh start.

On social media, Lakers fans are still in shock over the trade but seeing Luka in the Purple and Gold is finally starting to make it seem more real.

“This jersey is going to put up generational numbers,” wrote one fan on the potential Luka jersey sales.

Overall, while it’s unusual to see Doncic in anything other than the Mavericks blue, fans are really digging how he fits with his new Lakers gear.

“Yeah look good on you Luka right at home hell yeah,” wrote one Lakers fan.

With averages of 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game this season, Luka isn’t just one of the best young players at his position, he’s one the best players in the world and, at worst, a top three player in the league. He was considered untouchable for most of his career until a sudden change of heart convinced them to give him up for Anthony Davis.

Now, Luka is a Laker and gets to take the reigns of one of the most prestigious organizations in the NBA. At 40 years old, LeBron James is comfortable with no longer being the Lakers’ priority. That crown belongs to Luka, who is 25 years old and coming off one of his best seasons ever.

No word yet on when Doncic will make his Lakers debut but with the Lakers at 29-19 this season, they are in a good position to compete for a top-four spot in the West. If they can add some depth to the frontcourt and an established center next to Luka Doncic, it could be all the Lakers need to make another title run.

At 40 years old, LeBron James doesn’t have much longer on the court but he’s excited to spend some of his last moments with one of the NBA’s generational players. Soon, the whole world will get to see this Lakers duo and it will make for an excellent show in Los Angeles.

Plus, with Luka set to dominate for the next decade, the Lakers can rest easy knowing that he can take up the mantle after LeBron James retires. In fact, Doncic is already at the center of the organization and Rob Pelinka will be building the roster around him for the foreseeable future.
