Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro’s time as teammates on the Miami Heat ended in 2026, and so did whatever relationship they had. Adebayo and Herro got into a physical altercation in Las Vegas on Friday, and not long after the news broke, a clip resurfaced of a rather wholesome interaction between the two.

Tyler Herro: “Who on the team will always have your back? No questions asked.”

Bam Adebayo: “Who on the team will always have my back?”

Herro: “Like, if a fight breaks out, who’s coming to save you? Not save you, but be next to you? Choose one person, though, that’s just come to the rescue.”

Adebayo: “Man, I’mma say T, just ’cause we got the longest relationship.”

Herro: “Yeah, I’m coming.”

Well, Herro went from being the person Adebayo felt would always have his back to the one he himself struck. Now, mind you, this clip is from January 2026. We’re not talking about four or five years ago.

Adebayo clearly had love for Herro, and you’d imagine recent events greatly hurt him. It all began, of course, after the Heat agreed to trade Herro to the Milwaukee Bucks as part of the package for Giannis Antetokounmpo. The guard appeared a bit hurt by it.

Herro first threw shade at Adebayo and Antetokounmpo on Instagram by sharing a picture showing they are among the worst midrange shooters in the NBA. That wasn’t really going to ruffle any feathers, but then came the leaked DMs.

Herro took quite a few shots at Adebayo while arguing with a fan. To no one’s surprise, those leaked DMs went viral on social media. Herro was not happy about it, and he probably knew Adebayo was going to have some questions at some point. He might not have expected them to cross paths in Las Vegas last night.

Adebayo reportedly punched Herro without hesitation at a gym inside the Resorts World Casino. The latter appears to have told the former something that set him off.

Herro was asked about the incident afterward, but he declined to comment. The Heat revealed they were aware of the situation, but weren’t providing any more details at the time.

Interestingly, the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reported that there has been some resentment from multiple former Heat players about Adebayo being the chosen one. The three-time All-Star was never in trade talks, and he got his big contracts without much of a fuss.

Considering what was said in those DMs, it’s safe to say Herro, who found his name constantly in trade rumors, is one of those former Heat players. None of this is Adebayo’s fault, though. If Herro were as good as him, the Heat wouldn’t have looked to trade him. It’s just the nature of the business.

It’s a shame that this is how things have panned out. Adebayo and Herro were teammates for seven seasons on the Heat. The team went to the NBA Finals twice in their time together.

Now, the first game between the Heat and the Bucks this upcoming season was going to be all about Antetokounmpo. It was to be this emotional night where he faces his former team, but some spice has been added to it as well, thanks to Herro and Adebayo.
