Forward Tobias Harris is widely considered to be one of the best role players in the league. However, it is fair to say that he has not lived up to his $180 million max contract that he signed in 2019, as he is not a star-level player.
Perhaps part of the reason Tobias Harris hasn’t been a star is that he has been used in the wrong fashion by the Philadelphia 76ers. In fact, his father and agent Torrel Harris previously claimed that Tobias Harris is an assassin scorer. However, it is clear that some disagree with that notion. Nick Young responded to a Tweet that featured the quote from Torrel Harris, calling Tobias Harris a “corner dude” and telling him to “get in that corner”.
Tobias you are a corner dude embrace it. The Corner might not be for everybody but at this point of yo career get in that corner and hope the ball come your way lol https://t.co/jXevjbhg2K

It is clear that Nick Young doesn’t have a positive opinion about Tobias Harris’ scoring ability. Harris has only averaged 20 PPG once in his career, and at this point, it is fair to say that his best role is as a complementary scorer.
During the 2022-23 regular season, Tobias Harris averaged 14.7 PPG, 5.7 RPG, and 2.5 APG for the Philadelphia 76ers while shooting 36.7% from 3PT range. He is definitely a quality player, however, it is unlikely that he will ever become a star-level player, even if given more touches.
Tobias Harris Called Out Fans Who Want To Trade Him
There’s no doubt that Tobias Harris is a good player with a diverse skill set, even though he’s considered overpaid by many. Harris recently clapped back at the Sixers fans that want to trade him, noting that not many forwards are like him.
“Casual Sixers fans, they’ll trade me for a Crumbl Cookie…At the end of the day they have to realize you’re not getting a 6’9 forward who can shoot damn near 40% from 3, guard the other team’s best player, shoot, post-up, drive…”
Though Tobias Harris is right in saying that the team won’t get many players with his skillset back in a trade, his contract packaged with other assets could potentially be used to acquire a true star-level player. Still, as long as Harris is on the 76ers, he should get support from the fans.
