The Philadelphia 76ers have been pretty quiet so far this summer, but they have some big decisions to make this offseason. After falling short yet again in the playoffs, Daryl Morey must decide if running it back with the same squad is really the best path to contention. As one of the longest-tenured Sixers, Tobias Harris is obviously a part of the puzzle this summer but nobody is sure where he fits in.
Nevertheless, during a recent chat with the media, he filtered no words as he called out the entire fanbase for some of the slander he has endured over the years…
“Casual Sixers fans, they’ll trade me for a Crumbl Cookie…At the end of the day they have to realize you’re not getting a 6’9 forward who can shoot damn near 40% from 3, guard the other team’s best player, shoot, post-up, drive…”

Tobias has gotten the short end of the stick since joining the Sixers. Despite being a steady shooter and capable scorer, he’s been routinely phased out of the offense in favor of guys like James Harden and Tyrese Maxey.
This summer, Philadelphia is working hard to retain Harden but Harris’ future isn’t certain as the team considers all options to improve.
Have The 76ers Been Misusing Harris?
Led by Joel Embiid, the 76ers had a pretty solid regular season and many saw them as title contenders before they flamed out in the playoffs. Harris’ play has been mostly up-and-down over the years, but some claim that it’s the result of misuse by the 76ers.
“Tobias is an assassin scorer. I mean they can’t stop him. Nobody in the league can stop him. So he’s proven that over his career even when he was with the Clippers he was an assassin scorer… they traded him to the Sixers,” said Torrel Harris. “Ever since [then] the Sixers,’ they put him in the corner.”
This may very well be the summer Tobias Harris finds a new NBA home, but he’s not wrong when he says how hard it will be to replace him. For a Philly team desperate to get better and improve their title odds, losing a double-digit scorer like Harris is unrecoverable.
