Nikola Jokic is the man of the hour, he helped the Denver Nuggets to their first-ever NBA championship on Monday night and won Finals MVP in the process.

The Joker has established himself as one of the greatest of all time with this feat and his No. 15 jersey will one day hang in the rafters at Ball Arena. He once revealed why he chose that number.

The Orlando Magic’s Paolo Banchero asked Nikola Jokic why he chose to wear No. 15 and Jokic gave a hilarious answer. He said, “I was chubby, I was big, and No. 15 was the biggest jersey. But I stuck with it, I like it.”

That sounds like the most Nikola Jokic story of all time. He has become famous for treating the NBA like a day job, the man looked truly distraught to find out that he had to stay back for the parade on Thursday after winning the championship on Monday. So it makes sense that he just chose the jersey number which was most convenient to him.

Nikola Jokic also has a penchant for making history, which is what he did statistically during Denver’s magical playoff run. The Serbian superstar may have chosen No. 15 randomly, but he is making history with that, too, he will surely be the greatest to ever wear that number in the league’s history by the time he retires.

Nikola Jokic Remained True To Himself Even In The Immediate Aftermath Of Winning The Championship

Basketball players live their whole lives dreaming of winning the NBA title and Finals MVP, but Nikola Jokic has never been one to hyperbolize anything. He stuck to his personality right after the win too, seemingly more worried about getting back home in time for his horse racing

He seemed a little unenthusiastic throughout the whole celebration, hilariously being spotted halfheartedly playing around with a champagne bottle. Only this man could have averaged 30.2 points, 14.0 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game in the NBA Finals and acted like nothing too crazy had happened.

Nikola Jokic will now get the summer to recuperate and spend time with family, which is what he seemingly loves to do more than anything. But once next season begins, he will surely be back doing what he does best on the court, destroying defenses and winning at the highest level.
